Balanced Nutrition is the key to good health

Balanced nutrition is the key to good mental and physical health. There is something to be said for the saying- "you are what you eat". Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars, and saturated and industrially-produced trans-fats, are essential for healthy diet.

I believe all foods have a place and a purpose in our diet. I do not label foods as "good" or "bad". The difference is some are more nutrient dense then others. For some, this is why you may eat a meal, but soon after feel hungry. Your diet may lack fiber to help feel full.

We are bombard with diet culture that it is almost impossible to not find ourselves at times avoiding foods that our bodies need because we hear that things like "carbs are bad". Carbohydrates provide the body with glucose, which is converted to energy used to support bodily functions and physical activity.

Balanced nutrition is the key to our health. Remember learning about the 4 food groups and how our plates should look with a representation of all food groups. Somewhere for many of us, we have gotten away from this fundamental knowledge.

We live in a world of comparison and easy access to someone's "plan" to help us get healthy. The trouble is that each of us have very specific nutritional needs based on a variety of measurements. Following a generic 1200 calorie diet is likely not going to help you reach your health goals unless the 1200 calories is your specific total body energy expenditure.

Nutrition is the focus for many of my 1:1 clients. I help each of them learn why carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are all necessary in our diet. The end goal is for clients to make changes to their eating habits that last a lifetime.

I calculate personalized nutritional guidelines dependent on their goal of maintaining their weight, loosing weight, or maybe gaining muscle. Each persons' nutritional requirements is specific to the individual.

If you are struggling with your nutrition and are seeking some help, I am here for you.
