Consistency: The Key to Keeping the Weight off for GOOD

I want to share the secret to your success to creating changes that last:

CONSISTENCY

Many of us have "dieted" in the past and found success in loosing weight. But what happens when we stop the "diet". The weight returns. Now you feel frustrated that the weight is back and you are right where you started from.

Many we joined a gym and went everyday for a few months. Then our schedules got busy or we missed a few days which turned into a few weeks. Now we can't get motivated to get back into the gym.

Consistency is essential to improving your health because it helps create long-term, sustainable habits that positively impact your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Here's why it's so crucial:

  1. Builds Habits: When you consistently engage in healthy behaviors, such as exercising, eating nutritious foods, and getting enough sleep, you start to form habits that become part of your routine. Habits make healthy choices easier and less reliant on motivation.

  2. Better Results Over Time: Health improvements, like weight loss, muscle gain, or improved mental health, don't happen overnight. Consistency ensures that your efforts accumulate over time and lead to noticeable, lasting results.

  3. Stabilizes Body Functions: Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and sleep help regulate vital functions like metabolism, immune response, and hormone levels. Consistency in these areas helps maintain a balanced, functioning body.

  4. Prevents Setbacks: Occasional indulgence or skipping workouts won’t derail your progress if you're consistent overall. It’s when we fall off track for an extended period that setbacks occur. Consistency keeps you on track.

  5. Creates Accountability: When you commit to consistency, you're more likely to hold yourself accountable. Whether it’s a workout schedule or meal planning, being consistent means you're more likely to stay on course and less likely to let excuses interfere.

  6. Improves Mental Resilience: Committing to healthy behaviors even when you don’t feel like it builds mental resilience. Over time, sticking with your health goals strengthens your ability to overcome challenges and stay focused on long-term health.

Ultimately, consistency in your health practices doesn’t have to mean perfection, but it's the small, steady steps that lead to lasting change and improvement.

The trouble is the plan you set yourself up to follow was not a plan that fit your lifestyle. You need to find a plan that will work for your. Personalized.

My tip for you if you are looking to want to make changes to loose weight or exercise more:

  • Nutrition-start by taking a good honest look at your current diet and see where you are getting high amounts of low quality calories. For many, this is with processed snack foods. If you enjoy them start by cutting back, not completely cutting out.

  • Exercise-find ways in your everyday outing to get more steps. If your out shopping, walk all the aisle (just try not to be tempted to buy more). Park your car farther away from the entrance.

The goals with Lifestyle changes is to make them part of your LIFESTYLE. Consistency is the key. Yes, you may feel like you have short term goals to fit in a certain dress or a vacation that is coming up. But if you are putting in the work, don't you want your changes to last.
