Stop telling yourself your “BROKEN”!
If there is one thing I want you to realize about yourself- it is that your are NOT BROKEN.
I'll admit, I am guilty as the next person to watching Instagram reels with "perfectly" proportioned influencers telling their listeners that they have the fix to loosing weight. Many will tell you that things like cortisol or insulin resistance are the problem. They send you to a link to buy their supplements or drink that will "magically" make those unwanted pounds disappear.
As a nurse practitioner with over 20 years working in Women's Health, I can tell you that this may be the case for a few women. That vast majority of women struggle with nutritional education personalized for themselves and consistency. Yes- that word again: CONSISTENCY.
If you want to loose weight and get in better health- you have to be consistent. You cannot make changes to your diet or exercise that allowed you to loose weight then stop these healthier habits without realizing you WILL can the weight back. This is why my clients learn to eat intuitively without strict rules. I teach that all foods have a place in moderation. You need to be able to enjoy all foods even if considered a less health choice, just maybe not everyday.
For many of us, the struggle with our weight is not a recent frustration. This is likely weight we have been carrying around for years. Here is a hard truth- IF IT TOOK YOU YEARS TO GAIN THIS WEIGHT- YOU NEED TO GIVE YOUR BODY TIME TO LOOSE THE WEIGHT & KEEP IT OFF!
The first things I do when working with my clients- is to take a good honest look at their current eating habits. I want each clients to honestly track what they eat and drink. Most are shocked to realized how much they are overeating for what their body's needs.
I encourage consist behaviors that will become habits that will lead to lifelong changes.
Before you tell yourself your "broken", ask yourself "have I been consistent?".
Have you meet your daily calorie needs?
Have you meet your daily macro needs of carbs, protein, & fats?
Have you moved your body daily for at least 30 mins?
Have you slept close to 8 hours a night?
Have you tried to reduce your stress in your life?
CONSISTENCY do not mean PERFECTION. The goal in my wellness coaching for clients is to remember some improvement is a WIN. Even 10% better is a WIN.
I'd love to hear from you! What are your struggles with your health? What barriers are you finding to reaching your goal weight? What are you waiting for?
